Three tips that will make your patient love you

Not every patient walks in the door with a smile. Some of them are worried about their health and some simply want to believe you are glad to see them. In medical facilities there are those employees that get so caught up in what must be accomplished during the patient visit that they leave basic table manners behind.

When patients think you care, they get on your side, save time and money, and make your day run much better. Here's three easy tips that will get the patient on your side.
  1. Introduce yourself and put a smile in your voice. It helps Mr. Nervous feel more connected and puts the human face on other interactions.

  2. Get rid of that terrible sign in sheet. It's an excuse to ignore a patient when she arrives - as if you have more important things to do. Greet the patient - its the right thing to do.

  3. When Miss Tammy has completed her visit, say goodbye and always ask if there is anything else you can do for her. - Talk about making a patient feel important getting her on your team - This does the trick.
As you can see, implementing these three tips will be easy and provide added benefits. It will improve patient satisfaction, result in a more compliant patient, and will make your day at the office more pleasant.
